Die Funktion ist verkettet und besteht aus zwei Teilen. Die äußere Funktion ist

und die innere Funktion ist =x2.

Die Ableitung der verketteten Funktion ist die Ableitung der äußeren Funktion sin, als ob ein Variabel ist, multipliziert mit der Ableitung der inneren Funktion  . Also erhalten wir

ddxsinx2=cosx2x2=cosx22x.
